Hogadon Ski Area on Casper Mountain A little history......According to Vaughn Stephen Cronin's book "Casper Mountain The Magic Yesterday and Today" Hogadon Basin Ski Area was opened in 1958. Park Avenue was the 1st run cut. In 1960 a group of skiers known as the Central Wyoming Ski Corporation sold shares of stock to individuals for the area to grow. The City of Casper aquired the area in 1975 operating a rope tow and a T-bar. Since then they have been replaced by 2 double chairlifts and a poma surface lift added in 1980-81. In 1984 snowmaking was added to the resort to enhance the natural snow that fell and provide earlier opening dates. Today Hogadon is central Wyoming's winter number one recreational spot located 11 miles south of Casper Wyoming. |

Fishing in the Casper area The North Platte River runs right through Casper, which makes it the ideal headquarters for many of the top fly-fishing guides and outfitters in Wyoming. One such outfitter is the North Platte Lodge. Established in 1998, the Lodge is one of the very first to be established on Casper's popular river. "We run day trips and up to eight clients can stay in the lodge," explains owner and Adventure Guide Trent Tatum. "We employ nine or ten guides, and last year, we did 904 trips." According to Tatum, there are a number of experienced guides and outfitters who work the North Platte River. A typical Lodge package includes "a full-day guided trip, lunch, and all your flies, tippet, and leader material." |
